Crown set to launch a host of new products at IMHX 2013

During the past 12 months, Crown Lift Trucks has launched nine new products onto the UK market – including the three-wheel SC 5300 Series of electric counterbalance fork lift trucks, the new TSP 7000 turret order picker and the WP 3000 powered pallet truck.

This pace is set to continue into 2013 with IMHX, the materials handling industry’s major show, being chosen as the venue for a number of significant new product and technology launches.

Innovative design and robust engineering are the hallmarks of Crown materials handling equipment and provide Crown customers with maximum performance and reliability combined with the lowest TCO (total cost of ownership). Visitors to IMHX 2013 will be able to see this for themselves on stand 19J90, Hall 19, as Crown exhibit its  latest products, all equipped with InfoLink, a wireless fleet and operator management system. Under the banner of “Ideas that Advance”, visitors will be able to experience how, through research and applied learning, Crown is designing the technology that will lead the materials handling industry into the future.

Products being launched at IMHX 2013 include a new range of moving mast reach trucks, a new technology solution for low-level order picking and several new pedestrian and platform stacker trucks.

All Crown equipment on display features the innovative Crown's Access 1 2 3 Comprehensive System Control - a purpose-built system enabling safe, reliable lift truck performance and diagnostics across the full range of Crown equipment.

The latest version of Crown’s InfoLink wireless fleet and operator management system will be launched at IMHX 2013. Crown customers benefit as the system saves time and money by turning real-time and historic data into organised, prioritised and actionable information. In addition, the system is monitoring impacts for safety purposes. The latest version of InfoLink will feature a number of new initiatives and these will be launched and announced at the show.

New head office for Crown

In other news, Crown has also announced the opening of its new UK head office in Basingstoke together with further development of its Warrington technical and sales support centre.

The investment in a new UK headquarters in Basingstoke follows another year of expansion and profitable growth for Crown in the UK which saw sales and order intake increase significantly in recent years. The new 37,000 sq ft building, adjacent to the main A33 Reading Road, will serve as a technical and sales support centre for the south of England in additional to being the UK’s new headquarters.

Commenting on the new building, UK managing director Simon Emery said: “Our business has grown strongly across the UK over the past year, outperforming the growth currently being experienced in the UK materials handling sector. The new headquarters demonstrates Crown’s investment in the UK market and comes at the right time as we continue to grow and expand. Crown’s reputation for manufacturing robust and reliable trucks coupled with the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) has allowed us to gain many new accounts, and our new headquarters will enhance our ability to support existing customers while continuing to develop new customer relationships.”

The new Basingstoke premises bring together the South of England sales and service operations under one roof as well as housing all UK finance and HR functions. A brand new workshop and solvent free paint-shop will ensure customer truck refurbishments and modifications are carried out to the highest standards while new truck preparation facilities will allow a final inspection prior to delivery of trucks to site.

In addition, a purpose built customer demonstration arena has been created to showcase the latest new products being launched by Crown.

As well as a new headquarters, Crown has also invested significantly in its Warrington technical and support centre to cater for expansion and continued growth. Simon Emery explained: “The Warrington facility is our central hub for the North of England and we have just completed an extension to the premises. This additional space will cater for our enlarged service operation in the North as well as making additional space to house and maintain our short term rental fleet.”

Investment in the UK operation is part of an overall expansion plan which will see Crown’s presence across Europe continue to grow. During 2012, Crown announced the opening of a new directly owned and operated facility in Madrid, Spain and a new direct operation opened in Austria.

Commenting on the developments, Crown’s vice president Europe, Ken Dufford said: “The UK is a very important market for us and the new Basingstoke operation is part of Crown’s continued sales and service network expansion across Europe. Combined with our new direct operations in Spain and Austria, this is an exciting time for Crown and assures our global clients of local support as well as making the full range of Crown products and services available to them.”
