Construction has begun on the 168,000sq ft first phase of a new 564,000sq ft mid-box scheme at Harworth’s Logistics North scheme, Bolton.
Construction of the first three units of the Multiply scheme – 46,803sq ft, 56,000sq ft and 65,198sq ft - has begun, next to Junction 4 of the M61 in Bolton.
‘Multiply’ is being delivered by a joint venture known as ‘Multiply Logistics North’ between Harworth Group plc and the Lancashire County Pension Fund, constructing ten commercial units totalling approximately 564,000sq ft across 3.12 acres over the next two years.
Harworth has also started construction of two other commercial units – of 27,500sq ft and 24,750sq ft – targeting growing manufacturing and engineering firms at the site.
Since it received outline planning consent at the end of December 2013, 2.5m sq. ft of commercial space has already been built or under construction at Logistics North. Land for just 1.5m sq. ft of commercial development remains available.
Knight Frank Investment Management LLP partner John Styles who are supporting the development said: “High specification new commercial space remains at a premium in the North West and we are confident we can meet pent-up demand in the region.”
