Swindon-based UK leading logistics specialist, Connect Group, has been awarded 10 gold standard awards for a second successive year for its commitment to health and safety.
Presented by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) at an awards ceremony held in Birmingham, the prestigious awards demonstrate the Company’s dedication to fostering a safe working environment across its businesses.
Both Connect Group brands, newspaper and magazine wholesaler, Smiths News and irregular freight consignment specialist, Tuffnells, contributed to the achievement, with Smiths News receiving a separate business award for its success across multiple sites.
Among the winners, Tuffnells Leighton Buzzard achieved its first ever externally verified health and safety award. This was also the first of its kind for the Tuffnells brand.
Further successes came in the form of the Smiths News’ Milton Keynes and Hemel Hempstead distribution centres, also achieving a gold standard for the first time.
Commenting on the awards, Connect Group chief operating officer, Jonathan Bunting said:
“Two years ago, Smiths News won four golds at the RoSPA awards and we were thrilled with the result. Now, after continued investment and a commitment to health and safety standards, we have now achieved an incredible 10 gold standards across our brands, something we are very proud of.
“At Connect Group, the safety and wellbeing of our co-workers, and those at all of our locations is paramount to us, and these awards recognise the changes we are putting in place to ensure that continues.”
Jonathan added: “Whilst this is a great achievement for Connect Group, we still recognise that health and safety is always changing, and so we must always adapt. Our progress is clear, and we will continue striving to achieve even more.”
