Children's toiletries brand appoints Walker Logistics

Childs Farm, the award winning British children’s toiletries brand, has appointed Berkshire-based Walker Logistics to operate its UK supply chain.

Established in 2010 by entrepreneur Joanna Jensen in response to what she perceived as the lack of effective natural based hair- and skin-care products for newborns, babies and children, Childs Farm has seen demand for its range grow dramatically.

Before the appointment of Walker, the company’s manufacturing partner had also undertaken the fulfillment role. However, such has been the increase in orders from both retail stockists and consumers who buy online from the Childs Farm website, that a dedicated logistics services partner was sought.

Initially, the three-year contract will see Walker pick, pack and dispatch up to 1000 online orders direct to consumers per day from its 250,000 square foot multi-user store on the outskirts of Reading. Palletised loads of replenishment stock bound for retailers such as Boots, Tesco and Waitrose will also leave the warehouse on a daily basis.

William Walker, sales director of Walker Logistics, commented: ““We are naturally delighted to add Childs Farm to our rapidly expanding client portfolio.

“Childs Farm has taken advantage of the plethora of parents turning to organic, naturally derived products and is growing rapidly. As a result, the company needed a supply chain specialist that could manage its growth and offered the agility to respond swiftly and flexibly to its future requirements.”

Established in 1999, Walker Logistics offers a comprehensive range of bespoke logistics services to a broad range of clients operating in diverse industry sectors.
