Abbas Ali, Managing Director of Parcel Warehouse, sees the changing face of e-commerce as a natural progression from a simple delivery operation to a more transparent IT focussed and managed system.

“We are an independent courier consultancy and use our expertise and IT to tailor courier services for our clients. E-commerce trade is one of the major drivers of the global courier service industry.

There are real savings to be made and we have worked with a marketplace seller with an average of 150 parcels per day and saved  them £139,651 per year and the same applies for companies with lower volumes , an online book reseller with 27 parcel a day made savings of £22,680 on their courier expenditure.

Online tracking and increased transparency are the buzzwords and yet some retailers still have not embraced this mindset.
We talk to clients about volumes, their customers’ expectations and how they want to be perceived as a retailer and then design the best courier service around those ideals.

There are issues such as end customers expecting even shorter delivery times and the demand is there if the retailer can cope with these if they choose the right end delivery partner.”
