Amazon has ended three years of speculation by signing up for a new North West distribution hub.
The internet retailer is to take 654,000 sq ft at Airport City, the enterprise zone site at Manchester Airport.
The site is being developed by MAG Property with Chinese funding partners.
Since 2012 Amazon has been linked to a series of sites in Halton, Liverpool and Lancashire.
The warehouse will be created by adding mezzanine floors to a 270,000 sq ft warehouse which already has planning permission after an application by Mountpark and Birmingham-based Stoford.
Stoford were associated with an earlier plan which might have seen Amazon take it's North West requirement to a site at Stonebridge Cross, Croxteth, Liverpool. The plan - which emerged in 2013 - appeared to be shelved after Amazon decided to re-think their local needs.
