BMW’s Ian Hepplewhite to keynote Thursday IMHX programme

BMW Group General Manager – Physical Logistics Ian Hepplewhite has been confirmed as the morning keynote for the Thursday programme at next week’s IMHX - Tuesday 24th September to Friday 27th September, NEC Birmingham. His session, Innovation is nothing to be scared of, will discuss the impact new technologies are having a transformative effect on industrial operations up and down the country.

In a time where industry 4.0, digitalisation and automation are words used with increased regularity within logistics, Hepplewhite’s presentation on Thursday 27th September at 10am on Centre Stage aims to highlight some of the changes this should bring and how we already have the tools to cope with them. Examples of automation, big data projects and robotics within the BMW logistics functions will be used to demonstrate the kind of changes possible if we apply the right solution to a problem and how we can do this using the tried and tested methodologies that we already have within the industry.

Hepplewhite has worked in the automotive logistics industry since 2001. Most of those years were spent working within the third party logistics supply base before joining BMW at the Mini plant in Oxford in 2017. His career has seen him work in multiple disciplines including project management, facility design and build, software development, contract management and operational management, giving him a varied experience of problems and issues from multiple points of view.

Hepplewhite will speak on the main Centre Stage as part of a four-day programme filled with some of the most influential logistics operations in the country. He will speak alongside Alex Harvey of Ocado, Coca-Cola’s Clare Bottle, HSE’s Kanwal Kanda, Nestle supply chain director David Hix, and Jack Wills distribution centre manager Steve Hawthorn.

The main speaker theatre is free to attend on the Tuesday 24th, Thursday 26th and Friday 27th. To book your free place, please click here.
