BMW Group (UK) has signed up for a 150,000 sq ft extension to its UK distribution centre at Northampton.
The deal with landlord Prologis will see the floorspace added to the existing 475,000 sq ft unit at Prologis Park Pineham in Northampton.
A planning application has been submitted to Northampton Borough Council, and work on site is due for completion late this year.
The warehouse operation, which has seen steady growth since it opened for business in 2012, will dispatch around six million part lines for overnight delivery to BMW and MINI retailers this year and is also home to the company’s growing UK e-commerce parts and accessory business.
Richard Price, Aftersales Director at BMW Group UK, said: “The proposed extension will give us the opportunity to expand the capacity of our Pineham facility in line with our growth aspirations and we expect 70 new jobs to be created over the next ten years taking the total number of jobs at the facility to around 270.”
