A 50-acre site in Bedfordshire is to be developed as a 1m sq ft logistics scheme.
Developer db symmetry has announced the acquisition of a 50-acre site at Stratton business park, Biggleswade which already has outline planning consent for B8 use. Originally developed in the early 1990’s the Park has become a well-established employment location with major occupiers including Liebherr Cranes, Bibby Distribution, Jordans Dorset Ryvita, Kramp among others.
Christian Matthews, director at db symmetry, commented: “Stratton Business Park is well regarded as a highly successful logistics destination and the home to many major brands. We have been impressed by the occupier interest already generated by Phase 6 with a number of discussions underway, we look forward to announcing our first transactions in the near future.”
The Park itself is located 600 metres from the A1, two miles to the south east of Biggleswade, 11 miles south east of Bedford and only 29 miles north of the M25.
This acquisition comes after the developer announced it had committed to 800,000 sq ft of speculative development across four sites in England: Swindon; Middlewich; Doncaster and Bicester. According to research undertaken by Savills this equates to 21% of the total 3.8million sq ft of speculative development set to be delivered in the UK this year.
