Avon opens up to partner with transport providers

Global cosmetics brand Avon has said it’s considering the transition of its dedicated transport fleet to a national parcel network to support its distribution activities as part of its ‘Open Up’ strategy to grow the business.

The company is seeking to implement a supply chain transformation plan that enhances the customer service proposition for its independent Sales Representative network across the globe. The UK represents the company’s 8th largest market, with sales in its largest market Brazil representing over 25% of the company’s sales.

Its representatives work on a freelance basis selling Avon products, delivering leaflets and usually delivering products to its customers. Avon Global Vice President, Order Fulfilment & Distribution Graeme Carter told SHD Logistics order-to-deliver time takes on average 3.2 days in the UK, but hopes to reduce this timescale by one full day.

Carter said using multi-user providers may be the prime solution for the company, as customers have increasing expectations for immediate delivery. “We’re tracking our click to deliver performance in all of the top markets, measuring how long it takes when the rep makes the sale and when the box arrives at her destination.”
