ArrowXL, the UK’s leading two-person home delivery expert, has launched a new leadership and development programme in a move designed to identify future talent and to sustain business growth. Based out of The ArrowXL Development Academy, the ‘Squad’ course creates high performing teams by focusing on “managing self, managing task and managing others”.
The initiative will engage managers, develop key skills, and create a commonality of leadership language across the business in order to unearth the next generation of business leaders across the logistics, fulfilment and home delivery industries. The 10-day coursefocuses on performance levels, understanding commercial decisions, personal brand, and a work-related project that helps to improve colleague engagement.
Devised and implemented by Zoe Sinclair, Head of Resource and Development, the programme will build a peer network where best practice can be openly shared. So far, circa 40 colleagues have taken part in ‘Squad’ (aimed at first line team managers, such as supervisors) and ‘Squad PLUS’ (for more senior team members), with more to follow this year. ArrowXL will also be launching ‘Squad Lite’, which is aimed at the company’s aspiring leaders as an introduction to management.
Based at its Wigan headquarters, The ArrowXL Development Academy was opened last year to centralise and standardise training across the company. As part of this innovation, the company completed the construction of a purpose-built apartment that allows specialist delivery crews to train and hone their skills in a real-life environment. Since opening, the Academy has also received accreditation to deliver Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) modules in-house.
Commenting on the launch of Squad, Zoe said: “The ArrowXL Development Academy enables us to create a range of tailored and specialist training to match the business requirements. Squad will give our managers the opportunity to develop their key skills and progress within the business, which is vital as we continue to grow.”
Charlie Shiels, CEO of ArrowXL, said: “Squad has made an immediate impact and the feedback Zoe and her team have received from colleagues taking part has been excellent. We are absolutely committed to providing our people with the necessary tools to flourish and to maximise their potential.”
