ArrowXL donates mattresses to north London homeless shelter

ArrowXL, the UK’s leading two-person delivery company, has donated 12 brand new mattresses to a homeless shelter in Tottenham, London. A team of five employees from the company’s Enfield hub took time out of their busy schedules to deliver the mattresses to Highway House, with some even using their day off to help.

Highway House provides shelter for up to fifty homeless men at any one time. The facility opened its doors in order to provide homeless men with employment training, counselling, shower facilities, food and a safe place to sleep. The centre is run by Pastor Alex Gyasi, with former resident Sammy now acting as a caretaker.

The donation was organised by Joe Cotter, the General Manager of ArrowXL’s hub in Enfield. As well as delivering the new mattresses, Joe’s team also supported the shelter by disposing of those older mattresses being replaced.

Pastor Alex said: “We currently have 35 people staying at the shelter. These new mattresses will make a big difference by providing our visitors with some comfort in often extremely difficult circumstances. We are extremely grateful to ArrowXL for their generous donation.”

Joe Cotter added: “Highway House does a fantastic job helping the homeless community in North London by providing a vital range of services to those in desperate need. We are committed to supporting local charities and our expertise in delivering large items made this the perfect opportunity to help.”
