Online electricals retailer AO has announced that it has partnered with supermarket grocer Aldi to begin delivering Specialbuys products ordered online by its customers that require home delivery.
AO has a wealth of experience delivering large white goods as well as other electricals over the past 30 years, and will utilise this – and its logistics network that services 95% of the UK – to begin offering Aldi customers the same gold-standard customer service AO customers receive.
Aldi’s Specialbuys, wines and spirits are already available to purchase online, but the three-year partnership will see AO provide its services for larger products such as barbecues, patio furniture and sports equipment that will require two-person home delivery. Aldi customers will benefit from the range of services AO can offer, including increased weekend delivery options.
Commenting on the partnership, David Ashwell, MD of AO Logistics, said: “We are extremely proud of the award-winning logistics capability we have built here at AO. There’s no better stamp of approval than other retailers, like Aldi, wanting to partner with us to help them deliver exceptional service to their customers.”
David Barter, Managing Director of National IT at Aldi, said: “Our online Specialbuys are going from strength to strength, and this partnership with AO will allow us to offer customers even more options for our larger products that require home delivery.”
ArrowXL lands two-man Aldi contract
ArrowXL, the leading home delivery and fulfilment expert, has secured a contract to provide home delivery services to Aldi across the UK.
Under the terms of the agreement - which runs for three years - ArrowXL will provide a comprehensive two-person home delivery solution to online shoppers purchasing specific oversized items from Aldi’s website. This covers a wide range of products such as garden furniture, spa pools and DIY items. The company expects to handle in excess of 10,000 deliveries each year on behalf of Aldi – collecting the products directly from the retailer’s fulfilment centre in Northamptonshire before organising onward delivery.
ArrowXL was awarded the contract following a competitive tender where it impressed Aldi with its flexibility and scalability, as well as its commitment to providing an exceptional customer experience, which is illustrated by an industry-leading Trustpilot score of 9.1.
Aldi's Barter said: “Whilst we continue to enjoy huge success across our network of stores, we are also experiencing rapid growth online. We required the support of a home delivery partner to enable more customers to shop with us, as we focus on continuing to improve our shopping experience. ArrowXL has a fantastic track record and can quickly scale up and down operations to fit our needs, which is ideal for us as we continue to introduce new and exciting products at different times of the year.”
Charlie Shiels, CEO at ArrowXL, said: “Aldi continues to go from strength to strength and this important contract will allow us to play a key role in supporting the retailer’s future growth. Our specialist delivery heroes are specifically trained to ensure they provide the very best customer experience possible for this high profile and well-loved brand.”
