Yet another site zoned for employment has been re-allocated for housing.
Acting on behalf of Allied Textiles Ltd, the Planning and Development team at CBRE in Manchester has gained planning approval from Rossendale Borough Council for the residential development of an industrial site at Reedsholme Works in Rawtenstall, Rossendale.
Rossendale Borough Council unanimously approved planning for the demolition of existing buildings and structures at Reedsholme Works to be replaced by a residential development of up to 107 units with means of access. The new residential development is welcomed by local residents.
The site is currently occupied by a subsidiary company of Allied Textiles Ltd, the Coating Applications Group, which produces a range of PVC and PU coated fabrics for a number of specialist sectors, including hot air balloons, bouncy castles and tents.
The continued loss of potential urban logistics sites has been highlighted by the UK Warehousing Association. It points to the growth in online delivery, and the need for close-to-urban locations to provide food distribution. Close-to-urban sites are increasingly being sort for last-mile logistics, but are often unaffordable to distributors because higher-value uses, like residential, can afford to bid more.
