Amazon has announced that it is to take a 1m sq ft warehouse in Leicestershire amidst mounting speculation about further requirements for regional fulfilment centres.
The new Leicestershire fulfilment centre is at Coalville’s Bardon site, being promoted by developer Mountpark. Planning permission was approved in December. Bunzl and DHS are among neighbouring occupiers on the site close to junction 22 of the M1 motorway.
Simultaneously speculation is mounting in the North West that Amazon has not abandoned its so-far fruitless four-year search for a 1m sq ft regional fulfilment centre.
In a separate move, Amazon is understood to be poised to take M&G Real Estate’s 175,000 sq ft warehouse unit at Union Square, Trafford Park, Manchester. The speculative unit is a joint venture with Marshall CDP Ltd.
