More UK warehousing floorspace changed hands over the summer than at any time before.
According to Savills, the UK warehouse market topped 10m sq ft over the summer quarter, it’s best performance since records began.
Their data shows take-up hitting 10.4 million sq ft , more than a 1m sq ft above the record set in 2014.
Savills say the quarterly total is 45 per cent above than the long term average of 5.7 million sq ft. The total take-up of UK warehouse space to date this year now totals 26.2 million sq ft), up 9 per cent on last year.
The figures come as Amazon signs for another Daventry warehouse, their 13th new warehouse this summer, and after notable deals including Gestamp Talent taking 543,692 sq ft at Four Ashes and Amethyst Group taking space totalling 210,000 sq ft in Wellesbourne.
Just 17 per cent of take-up was due to 3PL logistics operators. Around 8 per cent was to serve the automotive sector.
