A Manchester developer is preparing to launch 375,000 sq ft of new North West speculative warehouse development.
It could be the first of more than 1m sq ft of new speculative warehouse development in the North West in 2015.
Barwood Developments (North) will decide before Christmas whether to go ahead with the two developments, a 200,000 sq ft development at Knowsley and a 175,000 sq ft warehouse at Wigan.
Managing director Andrew Dickman said: “We are contemplating both the Wigan and Knowlsey development. Logistics managers want certainty on when they can get into a building, and that means building it and getting the site operable quickly.”
Forward funding is expected to enable the two developments to go ahead.
Property agents say as many as five other speculative schemes could also be given the green-light by private sector investors before Christmas. In total this would add up to more than 1m sq ft.
