in conceiving and implementing the Novus Trust, an initiative developed to inspire more graduates to enter the supply chain and logistics industry
SHD Logistics (SHD): You have developed and inspired young talent for our industry which has been recognised by the industry. Are future skills still a major issue in logistics?
Andy: The skills shortage is still a major issue for the logistics industry. At the top end we are experiencing a brain drain of our best people to other sectors and markets, and at the entry level we are not seeing enough bright young talent considering supply chain and logistics as a career of choice. Despite the increasing recognition that supply chain management is becoming an even more vital component to corporate success, understanding and appreciation of the sector by young people is still very limited.
SHD: What changes and developments are you expecting/predicting for the logistics industry over the next five years?
Andy: The changes in the next five years will be an even greater reliance and development of technology and increasing complexity of routes to market to match
customer demands in choice and value.
