The Southampton subsidiary of German sawing machine and storage system manufacturer, Kasto, is one of the latest firms to receive accreditation under the SAFEcontractor scheme, which recognises the highest standards of health and safety practice among UK contractors.
More than 130 of Britain’s increasingly safety-conscious large businesses, including many top names in manufacturing, use the scheme as their principal means of selecting more than 13,000 registered contractors.
Under the SAFEcontractor scheme, suppliers of contract services undergo a vetting process that examines their health and safety procedures and track record for safe practice. Those companies meeting the high standard are included on a database, which is accessible to registered employer organisations via www.safecontractor.com.
These companies agree that, as users of the scheme, they will engage only those contractors that have received accreditation. It enables them to vet potential suppliers before they set foot on site, helping the employer companies to protect their reputations as well as reduce injuries and accidents on their premises.
