Palletways unveils key business developments and achievements

SK Distribution based at Harpur Hill in Buxton, a member of Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network, has invested more than £10,000 in ten electric pump trucks to help with the increasing number of home based tail-lift deliveries handled by the company.

Mark Cotterill, managing director at SK Distribution, said: “Tail-lift deliveries can be physically demanding for drivers and this new equipment will assist them with their day to day activities. The vehicles are semi-electric which help reduce driver fatigue and feature an automatic cut-off safety feature which means they’re less likely to experience a run-away incident, therefore reducing the risk of accidents.

“This is a significant but necessary investment – Palletways is forecasting a substantial growth in the home delivery sector over the coming years and this equipment will support this future growth.”

Kent distribution recognition

The Salvatori Group, a leading transport and logistics provider in Kent, has been recognised by Palletways, Europe's largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network, for its outstanding sales performance and the role it has played in the expansion of Palletways this year.

Salvatori is one of more than 110 members that form the UK Palletways network.  The company was announced as the South-East Region Winner in Palletways 2017 Sales Awards at its National Sales Conference in November.  The Award marks twelve months of outstanding achievement in sales and marketing by Salvatori, which joined the Palletways network in March 2015.

Carole Sutton, Business Development Manager for Salvatori says: “Winning this award is a fantastic way to end another successful year working with Palletways. We're delighted to have won this award as it reflects the dedication and hard work of every member of staff at our depots.”

Salvatori has helped Palletways UK move a record breaking 5.4 million pallets – the biggest year for the network to date. The 2016/17 figure beat the previous year’s record by some 300,000 pallets.

Commenting, Dave Walmsley, Palletways UK managing director, said: “Salvatori has made a significant contribution to the strength of the network over the past 12 months and their efforts are well deserving of this award. The company has been a top performer in their region over the past 12 months, setting an excellent example to the industry. We’re delighted the team is part of the Palletways family and the award officially recognises their continuing excellence.”
