The Logistics Awards 2017
The Logistics Awards 2017 saw two healthcare organisations lauded for their logistical operations walking away with key awards at this year’s extravagant gala event.
Pharmacy2U won the Overall Winner prize on top of its New Facility Award accolade, sponsored by SEC Storage, while London Ambulance Service NHS Trust was commended by SHD Logistics with the Editor’s Choice Award.
Supermarket giant Tesco, entered in collaboration with Whitham Mills Engineering, received loud cheers when it captured the Warehouse Efficiency Award.
Sponsored by Jungheinrich UK, the Technology Innovation Large and SME Awards were given to Hargreaves Logistics and Secured Mail, respectively. Haul & Store was Highly Commended in the SME category. Hermes beat off competition from Tuffnells Parcels and Prolog with Mothercare to the Operations (Large) Award, while Walkers Logistics won the SME equivalent, with both awards sponsored by Toyota Material Handling UK.
The Safety Award, sponsored by Mentor, was collected by Owens Group UK, who fought off notable competition from Travis Perkins and O’Donovan Waste Disposal. The Innovation Award – sponsored by Continental Tyres – was won by XPO Logistics, beating Dolphin to the honour, which was recognised with a Highly Commended.
The first ever The Logistics 100 Award was handed to Cranfield University’s Professor Richard Wilding. Other awards winners – Oakland International (Corporate Social Responsibility prize); McCulla (Environment/Sustainability); and DP World London Gateway (Future Skills) received applause at this year’s venue at Grange St Paul’s Hotel in London. Dalepak (with Culina Highly Commended) was recognised as the most impressive operation in the Growth category.
In association with charity organisation Transaid, this year’s event provided enjoyable entertainment for attendees, which was hosted by comedian Paul Sinha and saw beatboxers who led guests to their tables with a high-energy performance.
