Harworth Group has won permission for a 1.45m sq ft development at Selby.
The Yorkshire-based developer has won planning permission for a major commercial redevelopment of the former Kellingley Colliery.
The 151-acre site, located close to the M62 and other transport links, will provide up to 1.45 million sq ft of manufacturing and distribution space. It is estimated that, once complete, the redeveloped site could generate several hundred new jobs.
Harworth took control of the site in March 2016, following the closure of the colliery in December 2015. The company has spent the last 12 months undertaking site safety and security works, including demolishing redundant industrial structures, whilst masterplanning the site for future employment uses.

Barton Willmore acted as planning consultant. Harworth will now concentrate its efforts in preparing the land for redevelopment and promoting the site to key international and national businesses, with the site able to accommodate units ranging from 17,000 sq ft to 600,000 sq. ft.
