Europa Air & Sea, a dedicated division of ambitious logistics operator, Europa Worldwide Group, is celebrating record breaking growth in its Hong Kong office which has been helped by the ongoing growth of e-commerce across Asia.
Europa, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, has had an office in Hong Kong since 2009. It has since continued to grow in the region through investment and expansion, and has forecasted a volume growth of 10-15 per cent in 2017. This success has been helped by a recent explosion in e-commerce in Asia, with the continent accounting for 40 per cent of global e-commerce sales in Q1 of this year.
Europa’s presence in Hong Kong, coupled with its market leading European road freight product allow customers to consolidate in China, ship directly to the UK where on arrival the cargo can be handled and split in Europa’s Heathrow facility before being distributed nationally and internationally.
This year also marks the second anniversary of the team’s office move to the prestigious Metroplaza Towers in 2015, which has provided Europa with easy access to both container terminals and the airport, allowing it to capitalise on Hong Kong as one of the world’s top air and sea freight destination.
As well as strengthening their existing export accounts with long-standing customers, Europa are now looking to expand their sales operation in Asia by recruiting two new sales team members to build its inbound traffic.
Carmen Tsang, General Manager of Europa Air & Sea in Hong Kong, said: “The move to our new premises has been essential in supporting our ambition to expand our overseas operation. It’s location and status have provided the ideal market place for sales and we have seen a fantastic year of unprecedented growth, with more forecast this year.
“Asia’s reputation as the fastest growing e-commerce centre in the world has undoubtedly helped to expand our portfolio and build our client base in sectors such as retail and manufacturing. We have also been able to develop our relationships with existing customers, some of which we have been working closely with for as long as eight years.”
Angus Hind, Director of Europa Air & Sea, added; “These fantastic growth figures are a testament to the way our Hong Kong team has embraced the changing face of global trade. Online sales are booming and with that comes a greater demand for overseas air and sea services – the new office has further enhanced our abilities to deliver for this in the most efficient way possible.
“The future looks incredibly bright for our operations in Asia and we look forward to strengthening our presence in Hong Kong and the wider region.”
