DPD to take up Europe’s largest automated parcel hub site

DPD is to take Europe’s largest automated parcel hub in Leicestershire, opening the door to another 900,000sq ft of logistics development.

IM Properties  has been given the go ahead for a £225m employment park Hinckley Park, Leicestershire, close to junction 1 of the M69.

The 82 acre employment park, with 39 acres dedicated to the £150m super-hub for DPD, has been granted permission by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council.

DPD's 276,454sq ft hub - over 500 metres long - will be capable of handling 71,000 parcels an hour and create 750 jobs.

IMP intend to start infrastructure work in the Spring which will then provide a development plateau to enable the start of building construction for the DPD hub later in the year.

The DPD the hub should be operational in Q4 2020. IMP will simultaneously install the infrastructure into the remaining 43 acres, therefore preparing the land ready to accommodate occupiers as soon as they are identified.

The remaining site is capable of accommodating over 900,000 sq ft and has already generated substantial market interest.
